Inventory Mapping: Sections & Zones

This guide explains how to organize your property’s ad inventory in AdLuxe by setting up Sections and Zones. A well-structured inventory map ensures advertisers can easily target their ads and helps you maximize revenue.

1. Understanding Sections & Zones

  • Sections: Broad content areas of your property (e.g., Homepage, Article Pages, Video Player).
  • Zones: Specific ad placements within those sections (e.g., 300x250 sidebar, leaderboard banner, pre-roll video).

Quick Tip: Clear organization makes it easier to manage inventory and helps advertisers choose placements that fit their goals.

2. Creating Sections

  1. Log in to your AdLuxe account.
  2. Navigate to Inventory in your dashboard.
  3. Click Add Section.
  4. Name the section and assign it to a property.
  5. Save your changes.

3. Adding Zones to Sections

  1. Open the section where you want to add a zone.
  2. Click Add Zone.
  3. Choose the ad format (Display, Video, Native, etc.).
  4. Select ad sizes from IAB standards or custom dimensions.
  5. Set optional floor prices for premium spots.
  6. Save and generate the ad tag.

Quick Tip: Above-the-fold zones and in-content placements typically perform better.

4. Assigning Ad Formats & Targeting

  • Match ad formats to the type of content in the section.
  • Use contextual targeting where possible to improve ad relevance.
  • Consider creating different zones for desktop and mobile layouts.

5. Testing Zone Performance

  • Use test campaigns to ensure ads render correctly.
  • Check Reports for impressions, clicks, and revenue by zone.
  • Adjust placement or formats based on performance.

6. Maintaining Your Inventory Map

  • Periodically review and update your sections and zones.
  • Retire low-performing zones or replace them with new formats.
