Creating Short Links

Short links let you condense any URL into a trackable, branded link that you can enrich with powerful marketing features. Use them to drive campaigns, A/B test destinations or route visitors based on location or device.

 1. Navigate to Shortened Links

1. From the left sidebar, click Shortened links.

2. Select Create short link (or New link).

 2. Set Basic Details

- Destination URL – Paste the URL you want to shorten (e.g., product page, video, CrownThrive tool).

- Short URL (Slug) – Choose a memorable slug (e.g., "launch" or "offer"). If left blank, CrownThrive will generate one automatically.

- Optionally assign the link to a project and choose a splash page.

 3. Configure Advanced Options

Click each collapsed section to expand and configure:

- App Linking – Set deep links for iOS and Android so mobile users open the appropriate app.

- Pixels – Attach pixels for Facebook, Google Analytics, LinkedIn, TikTok or others to track conversions.

- Temporary URL – Schedule a start and end date/time, limit the number of clicks, or define an expiration URL after the limit is reached.

- UTM Parameters – Define source, medium, campaign and term for automatic analytics tagging.

- Protection – Add a password or sensitive‑content warning to restrict access.

- Targeting – Route visitors based on continent, country, city, device type or operating system. For example, send visitors in Europe to one page and visitors in North America to another.

- Cloaking – Hide the destination URL if you want to mask affiliate links.

- HTTP Status – Choose the redirect type (301 for permanent, 302 for temporary).

- Advanced – Customise slug behaviour, enable retargeting or integrate with other tools.

 4. A/B Rotation

To split traffic between multiple destinations:

1. Create a Rotation link inside the Targeting section.

2. Add multiple destination URLs and set weights (e.g., 50/50).

3. Use CrownLytics to compare performance and refine your campaigns.

 5. Save & Share

Click Create or Save to generate your short link. The platform will provide the final URL, which you can copy and share across social media, email, SMS or ads. Use the link’s analytics page to monitor clicks, top countries, devices and referral sources.

 Power Tips

- Use different UTM parameters for each campaign and monitor results in CrownLytics.

- Cloaked links are great for affiliate marketing—but always disclose affiliate relationships as per regulations.

- Pair short links with dynamic QR codes to promote offline‑to‑online campaigns and update the destination anytime.
